Easy Sign Up and Class Scheduling
We offer at least one beginner and one intermediate surf lesson per day. We have a 4 day look ahead schedule at the approximate class time, and the exact time is confirmed the day before (depending on conditions and the tide).
Regular Video Analysis
We offer video analysis of our classes on specific days of the week (currently Tuesday and Thursdays) for intermediate 1 and intermediate 2 level classes. Our students love that they can sign up for class on our video analysis days so that they can have regular updates on their progress.
Surfboards & Equipment
Equipment like boards, leashes and rash guards are all available and included in the price of your lesson. Have your own board, awesome. Ours are still available to you to try out as your level changes.
Location & Surf House
Centrally located by Banana Beach, the surf house is a 5 minute walk to our main lesson location, ST beach between Banana and Tropico Latino. We have safe storage for your valuable while you are in class, and a hang-out where we enjoy coffee and each others company before and after class.
What's your level?
Beginner
Our beginner classes are for those who are just beginning the rest of their life as a surfer! These classes are for you if you have never surfed before or if it's been a while since the last time you tried. Get ready for the rest of your life as a surf obsessed wave chaser.
Beginner classes focus on:
Theory and safety
On land practice of your pop-up and surf technique
Let's go! How to enter the sea and paddle technique
Catch waves! Get a feel for the "push" of the wave and ride all the way into the beach
Graduate when: Students are ready for intermediate classes when they are comfortable enough and capable of paddling out to the line up.
Intermediate
Our intermediate classes are for surfers with a few sessions under their belt, who feel ready and capable to paddle out to the line up. Intermediate classes focus on helping our students become more independent in the water, ocean knowledge, improving technique and catching more waves!
Intermediate classes focus on:
Ocean knowledge and theory
Perfecting your paddle technique for speed and agility in the water
Positioning, timing, and pop-up technique
Vision, compression, and other surf tactics for riding waves with style
Graduate when: Students are ready for advanced coaching when they are catching waves on their own and riding down the line
Advanced
Our advanced surf classes are focused on coaching surfers who regularly surf independently, and want to take their surf to the next level. Advanced coaching focuses on identifying technique corrections that may be blocking you from progressing, refining your personal style, and the technique and practice of new maneuvers and turns.
Advanced classes focus on:
Wave selection strategy
Technique corrections , weight distribution, alignment and vision
Coaching on maneuvers like bottom turns, cut-backs, snaps, etc
Video analysis recommended
Graduate when: There are no true graduates of surf, as we are forever students, always learning, always inspired and grateful to the ocean! :)
